BestBank uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with 128-bit encryption, which is the highest level of encryption allowed by U.S. law. It is embedded in most web browsers including Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. SSL scrambles information using a code or key that is secret to the sender and the recipient. Only the correct recipient has the corresponding key to unlock or decode the information.
Microsoft® and Netscape® have two versions of their Web Browsers that offer different levels of encryption. To verify that your browser is utilizing 128-bit encryption, choose "Help" from the browser menu in the browser you are using.

In Internet Explorer, click on "About Internet Explorer." The dialogue box will display Cipher Strength. Check to see that it reads 128-bit.

In Netscape Navigator, click on "About Netscape Navigator." If the dialogue box says, "This version supports U.S. Security," you have 128-bit encryption. If it says, "This version supports International Security," you have 40-bit encryption.
