Is It Identity Theft?
A silent crime that will make you want to scream
Identity theft is when someone takes your personal information and uses it fraudulently to access your accounts, open new accounts in your name, obtain credit and other illegal activities.
It takes just a few seconds for a criminal to steal your identity. But, it can take weeks, months or even longer to repair the damage. The sooner you catch identity theft, the easier it is to repair.
Signs of Identity Theft:
- Bills and statements do not arrive in the mail.
- Collection agencies or other companies are calling you about charges and accounts that are not yours.
- You receive bills or statements from companies that you haven't done business with or even recognize.
- You apply for credit and are denied, yet your credit rating has always been fine.
